CONTOUR: Expanded Mirror
The CONTOUR series is a body of work that showcases designs that physically reflect the processes that were involved in the making of them.
‘Expanded Mirror’ is a showcase of the unique material of expanded cork. Manufactured in Portugal, expanded cork blocks are a by-product of the corking industry - created by heating and compressing leftover cork granules into a usable material that is mechanically resilient yet 100% natural and biodegradable.
The mirror frames are carved directly from these blocks, allowing the unique texture to be fully appreciated.
Each mirror is unique, where the texture of the cork varies across the material.
