CONTOUR: Marbled Bowl
The CONTOUR series is a body of work that showcases designs that physically reflect the processes that were involved in the making of them.
‘Marbled Bowl’ is a showcase of the unique marbled recycled plastic produced by Weez & Merl, framed by an expanded cork rim. The plastic base is made from 100% post-consumer waste, melted and worked into a marbled texture by hand kneading in their workshop in Hove.
No two bowls are the same, using one-off pieces produced by Weez&Merl each week, each blank is cut down to a completely unique shape, informed by the natural geometry and marbling of the plastic. A single piece of expanded cork, in itself a biodegradable and carbon negative waste product, is cut to the same size to frame and finish each piece.
Each bowl is unique in shape and pattern - broadly fitting into two types:
Type 01 (typically 450 x 380mm x 35mm)
Type 02 (350 x 260mm x 35mm)
Please get in touch to see the currently available patterns.
Materials:
Recycled post-consumer plastic (by Weez&Merl)
Expanded Cork
Plastic made in Hove, Cork and plastic machined and assembled here in Brighton, UK.

The cork is naturally water and rot proof, although care should be taken not to prolong exposure to water to avoid swelling. The marbled plastic is completely waterproof.
Natural cleaning products are recommended. Wipe gently with damp cloth.
