CONTOUR: Expanded Bowls
The CONTOUR series is a body of work that showcases designs that physically reflect the processes that were involved in the making of them.
‘Expanded Bowl’ is a showcase of the unique material of expanded cork. Manufactured in Portugal, expanded cork blocks are a by-product of the corking industry - created by heating and compressing leftover cork granules into a usable material that is mechanically resilient yet 100% natural and biodegradable.
The series of expanded bowls are carved directly from these blocks, allowing the unique texture to be fully appreciated - available in three diameters:
110mm (pinch pot)
350mm (medium bowl)
490mm (large centrepiece bowl)
Each bowl is unique, where the texture of the cork varies across the material.
