'Kerf' Cork Side Table
The Kerf side table/stool is constructed entirely from cork, as part of my ongoing experimentation with sustainable materials in furniture-making. It is constructed from just two sheets of agglomerated cork, itself a by-product from the corking Industry in Portugal. Using a simple cylindrical structure, the piece is finished by wrapping a fluted cork sheet around the outside.
The top surface of each stool/table is fully removable, allowing the top to be easily swapped for an alternative size, material or to be repaired/resurfaced.
Each piece is hand crafted to order in my workshop in Brighton and ships fully assembled.
The outside design comes in three variations, straight cut, fluted+straight or grid+straight.

Materials and Finishes:
The Kerf cork table is available in ‘natural’ or ‘smoked cork’. The smoked cork is darker as a result of the raw material being compressed under intense heat and pressure - this releases the natural resins in the cork, tuning them darker in the process. Each piece is sealed with a matt lacquer that brings out the grain of the cork, and protects against spills.

Lead times and Delivery:
Each piece is made to order with a lead time of 2-3 weeks - however, quicker turnarounds are sometimes possible, just get in touch. UK mainland delivery from £25 or collection from Brighton can be arranged. The recycled plastic version of this product has an increased turnaround of 6-8 weeks, depending on plastic in stock.
